Spanning MedTech, energy, AgTech, and advanced manufacturing sectors, these businesses are taking advantage of the Manufacturing Growth Accelerator (MGA) – a program supported by the Department of State Development – to boost their productivity and capacity:
- Solaflo are focusing on an assembly system design for the Good Design award-winning Intelligent Zero Emissions Pump (IZEP), a high-efficiency water pump for swimming pools and other water pumping applications
- Amber Kinetics are working on factory planning and design of a digital and automated manufacturing system for their flywheel energy storage products.
- Dust Forge are exploring additive manufacturing and advanced digital modelling in Ankle-Foot-Orthosis (AFO) production.
- Fusetec are discovering advanced manufacturing technology to develop and validate ultrasound compatible surgical training models.
- Sentek are assessing how collaborative robots (cobots) can assemble moisture sensing probes for increased capacity and efficiency.
- Allin Towbars are exploring how cobots can optimise welding for towbar production to enhance quality and productivity.
Since 2022, the MGA has been delivered in partnership with Flinders University’s Factory of the Future facility at the Tonsley Innovation District. As a world-class research facility, Flinders Factory of the Future combines both industry-leading research expertise and advanced manufacturing technologies.
The MGA is enabling South Australia’s small businesses to accelerate the adoption of innovative manufacturing technologies by sharing research expertise and exchanging knowledge in form of events, workshops and bespoke research activities at Flinders Factory of the Future. Participating enables businesses to expand production capacity, address workforce challenges, and remain competitive.
When resources are limited, it can be challenging for small businesses to test and decide which technologies will provide the best return on investment. Government supports like the MGA are designed to make those decisions clear and informed.
Applications are now open for the next intake.
