    South Australia set to shine at World Expo 2025

    Osaka, Kansai • 13 April to 13 October 2025

    South Australia has partnered with the Australian Government as a Gold Partner of the Australia Pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

    Throughout a six-month program of activity, South Australia’s premium food and wine, natural resources, hi-tech industries, space, health and medical ecosystems, along with our reputation for international education, will be showcased to the world.

    Our state’s priorities closely align with the Australian Pavilion’s theme of ‘Chasing the Sun’ and we are keen to strengthen our trade and investment relationship with Japan and other nations attending the World Expo.

    About World Expo 2025

    World Expo is held every five years and is one of the oldest and largest events in the world.

    In 2025, World Expo will be held in Osaka, Japan’s second-largest city and major culinary destination, providing an opportunity to connect with the Japanese community and global citizens.

    Australia will be among 161 participating countries and regions and South Australia will have the opportunity to showcase our key sectors of economic priority to more than 28 million visitors to World Expo.

    This year’s theme is ‘Designing Future Society for our Lives’, focusing on developing and adopting best practices from around the world to drive co-creation by the global community in designing a sustainable society that supports social challenges, emerging sciences and evolving technologies.

    Co-creating Cultures for the Future Week

    25 April - 6 May • South Australia will strengthen its engagement with key international tourism stakeholders to grow opportunities in the sector, highlighting and promoting the state’s strengths as a global arts and events destination.

    Future of Community and Mobility Week

    15 - 26 May • South Australia’s space sector, in conjunction with Austrade, will have the opportunity to liaise with key global stakeholders, increasing investor networks and interest in the South Australian space ecosystem.
    Food

    Necessities of Life: Food, Clothing and Shelter Week

    5 - 16 June • With South Australia’s premium food and wine showcased to the world, global counterparts will have the opportunity to taste some of the state’s premium produce as the sector is promoted to global attendees. Events will include a Taste of South Australia Food and Wine Showcase and an exciting cooking demonstration utilising South Australian produce.

    Health and Wellbeing Week

    20 June - 1 July • South Australia’s world-leading capabilities in clinical trials will be on show in collaboration with Austrade.
    Learning

    Learning and Playing Week

    17 - 28 July • South Australia’s international education capabilities will be showcased to the world.
    Earth

    The Future of Earth and Biodiversity

    17 - 28 September • The state’s capabilities in renewable energy, green economy and net zero will provide global attendees with opportunities to learn more about investing in South Australia’s decarbonisation journey.
