Supporting jobs and skills across the Spencer Gulf

The Spencer Gulf Jobs and Skills Hub is focused on growing and developing the region’s workforce to meet the broader needs of the regional economy and to position the region to capitalise on emerging opportunities in renewable energy, resources, steelmaking and advanced manufacturing industries.

A free website, delivered by Regional Development Australia (RDA) Eyre Peninsula, has now been launched to connect jobseekers with hundreds of local job opportunities. Free for employers to advertise vacancies, the platform is helping businesses to attract talent while supporting jobseekers to find meaningful employment closer to home.

The Hub also provides a suite of services, under the Regional and Industry Partnerships Program (RIPP), that bring together industry, employers, service providers and regional stakeholders to deliver workforce outcomes in one of South Australia’s most critical economic regions:

    • The Career Transition Service, delivered by RDA Eyre Peninsula, and the Workforce Support Service, delivered by RDA Yorke and Mid North, both provide tailored career advice, job search assistance, resume support, and referrals to other services in the respective regions.
    • A Certificate 7 Welding Training Program, delivered by Weld Australia to upskill welding tradespeople in Whyalla.
    • The Jobs 4 Locals Program, a targeted pre-employment initiative for 40 unemployed people to gain jobs in resources and infrastructure, civil construction, care and support, retail and hospitality.
    • The Industrial Services Work Ready Program, a targeted pre-employment initiative to prepare unemployed women and Aboriginal people for sustainable careers in the industrial services sector.
