Adelaide’s longest-serving international airline, Singapore Airlines, will set a new aviation record as it increases to 12 flights a week – the most weekly flights any international carrier has flown year-round to Adelaide, creating more than 1,300 additional seats from October.
Currently, the airline operates 10 flights a week between Singapore and South Australia. The additional flights will provide a further 1,328 seats for passengers and will touch down every afternoon and five mornings a week, offering additional access to the rest of the world via Singapore’s Changi Airport.
Singapore is currently South Australia’s fifth top export destination for air freight at 3,452 tonnes, up 37% to May 2026 and valued at $39.8 million, with merchandise exports to Singapore valued at $239.8 million, up 10% to May 2026. To December 2025, South Australia welcomed 15,613 visitors from Singapore, up 17% on the previous year.

Now, they offer more options than ever before to fly to Singapore and connect with their significant global network.
“It’s also significant for our local exporters who rely on Singapore Airlines’ regular services to reach key markets.”

Meanwhile, China Southern, which currently operates three flights into Adelaide each week and recently moved from a season schedule to operating all year round, has announced it will expand to daily flights between 1 December 2026 and 10 March 2027, connecting via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in Southern China and adding an extra 1,064 seats each week.

“With China’s 30-day visa-free policy now in place for Australian passport holders, travelling to and exploring China has never been more seamless.
“Beyond Guangzhou, South Australian travellers can take full advantage of China Southern’s expansive global hub, enjoying smooth, high frequency connections across our extensive network to key destinations in Europe, Japan, Vietnam, South Asia and beyond.”
The increase in direct flights will unlock additional freight opportunities for South Australia’s exporters and enable more South Australian premium produce to reach international markets faster and fresher.
It comes as South Australian air freight exports rose by 35% in the year to May 2026, with 23,000 tonnes of goods travelling by air. This increase has supported record high South Australian export growth, valued at $18.4 billion to May 2026.
The expansion of direct flights adds to additional direct flight announcements for Adelaide in recent months, following an increase in Cathay Pacific’s peak services and the first direct China Eastern flights from Shanghai in June.
