Cathay Pacific Airlines will increase its direct flights from Hong Kong to Adelaide in time for summer, as the service resumes later this year.
The seasonal route will commence between November and March with three return flights a week, before increasing to five flights a week during the summer months, from December to February.
The flights, from Hong Kong to Adelaide, will operate on a state-of-the-art Aribus A350-900, which includes Business, Premium and Economy classes and will mark a 50 per cent increase in peak seat capacity compared to last year.
The return, and expanded flights into Adelaide will provide a boost to South Australia’s visitor expenditure, which currently contributes $1.7 billion to South Australia’s economy.
The boosted seasonal service will also unlock additional cargo space for South Australian exporters, providing them with direct access to the Asian market and consumer access to some of the state’s high-value exports including wine, seafood and hi-tech goods.
Hong Kong also serves as premier global trading hub – further connecting South Australian businesses to consumers throughout the Asian market and beyond and will provide direct access for international students to study in the state.
“After seeing a strong return to Adelaide last year, we are pleased to strengthen our commitment to the city through increased flight frequencies,” said Aldric Chau, Cathay Regional General Manager, Southeast Asia and Oceania. “These additional services will make it easier for customers to experience Cathay Pacific’s world-class service while connecting onwards to destinations across Asia, Europe, North America and beyond.”
From 10 November 2026 to 27 March 2027, flights will arrive from Hong Kong on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights before returning the next day. Between December and February, additional flights will arrive on Monday and Friday nights.
“Cathay Pacific has been an important and loyal airline partner of ours for well over three decades, and we’re excited to again welcome their return in November for our peak summer season,” said Brenton Cox, Adelaide Airport Managing Director. “We expect Cathay Pacific’s non-stop service to Hong Kong with excellent connections to Asian and European destinations will again prove popular for both inbound and outbound tourism, international students and our local exporters.
“Customers will be able to fly on the new A350-900, with Premium Economy creating a greater seating choice.”
Cathay Pacific is one of Asia’s leading international airlines, with a global network linking travellers to Adelaide from more than 80 destinations worldwide via its Hong Kong hub.
The airline’s extensive connections across the Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and North America make it a key gateway for both leisure and business travel.
