    Career Transition Service

    Free support to start, transition or progress your career

    This free service has been created to help you navigate change in your working life, whether it’s a career move, redundancy or job loss. If you’re interested in exploring your options, but don’t know where to start, the Career Transition Service can help.

    The free Career Transition Service provides:

    • Career counselling
    • Resume and job search guidance
    • Guidance with options for free accredited training, occupational tickets, upskilling and reskilling

    Fee Free Training

    Free accredited training is available to contractors and workers impacted by the downturn in steelmaking.

    Fee Free TAFE and vocational education and training (VET) courses are tuition-free opportunities to train, re-train or upskill. If you’re an eligible local you can:

    • Enrol in a course from the Subsidised Training List for free
    • Gain Recognition of Prior Learning for a partial or full qualification
    • Get accredited occupational tickets and high-risk licences (e.g. forklift, whitecard, first aid, confined space, elevated work platform)

    Regional and Industry Partnerships Program

    If you're a business or organisation in the Spencer Gulf region, you can apply to deliver services as part of the Spencer Gulf Jobs and Skills Hub.

    Funding is available to support workforce development projects across the Upper Spencer Gulf that:

    • Connect workers with employment
    • Improve workforce outcomes for disengaged and disadvantaged people
    • Build the workforce in priority sectors

    Examples of workforce development projects in scope include job matching services; workforce and employment events

    Building a skilled workforce in the Spencer Gulf

    The Spencer Gulf Jobs + Skills Hub connects local jobseekers, service providers, regional employers and industries to support the current and future workforce development needs in the Upper Spencer Gulf region.

    The South Australian and the Australian Government have committed $6 million to establish the Hub and its services.

    Based in Whyalla, the Hub supports workers and jobseekers across the whole Spencer Gulf region, who may be experiencing job loss, looking for upskilling and reskilling pathways, or wanting to explore new job opportunities.
