World-class talent to drive SA’s green industrial transformation

A globally renowned expert is set to accelerate new ideas and solutions that will put South Australia at the forefront of renewable energy, minerals and resources research.

Professor Christian Doonan has been appointed under the University of Adelaide’s Future Industry Making Fellowships Scheme and will be based at the University’s Institute of Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER).

As a Future Industry Making Research Fellow, Professor Doonan will strengthen ISER’s research capabilities, focusing on the transition to renewable energy sources and low carbon industrialisation of South Australia.

He will also play a key role in boosting university, industry and government collaboration to accelerate the scaling of green hydrogen production in South Australia.

The appointment of a Future Industry Making Fellow to ISER supports the South Australian Government’s vision to capitalise on the global green transition, as outlined in the South Australian Economic Statement.

It also coincides with the development of a Green Industrial Transition Roadmap which charts the state’s path towards a more productive, diverse and sustainable economy.

The South Australian Government, through the Research and Innovation Fund, and the University of Adelaide will each provide $450,000 to support the aims of Professor Doonan’s Fellowship.
