SA launches UK roadshow to attract skilled professionals

South Australia is heading to the United Kingdom this October with its first ever Move to South Australia UK Roadshow, inviting skilled workers and professionals to explore the opportunity to build a rewarding life in one of the world’s most liveable regions.

Led by the Department of State Development, the roadshow will showcase what we have to offer as a relocation destination, focused on career and lifestyle opportunities.

The Move to South Australia UK Roadshow follows independent research from Robert Walters, a leading recruitment and talent solutions firm, which has found that 43 per cent of UK residents who responded to the research survey would consider relocating to South Australia, driven by elements such as the rising cost of living in the United Kingdom.

The findings also show that 50 per cent of respondents are motivated by the promise of a better lifestyle, while 41 per cent are drawn by the state’s strong employment prospects.

The roadshow will showcase what South Australia has to offer as a relocation destination – focused on career and lifestyle opportunities, with representatives from key sectors including healthcare, education, construction, engineering, and public services.

Employer sponsorship is the main visa pathway used by participating employers to secure a future workforce. These sectors represent some of the most acute workforce shortages in our state. Attendees will have the chance to meet directly with employers who are looking to sponsor skilled professionals, government officials, and fellow UK migrants, gaining practical insights into the migration process and life in South Australia.

Led by the Skilled and Business Migration team at the Department of State Development, the roadshow will begin its tour of the UK on 11 October, visiting the following cities:

    • London, Saturday 11 October
    • Newport, Sunday 12 October
    • Birmingham, Tuesday 14 October
    • Manchester, Thursday 16 October
    • Glasgow, Saturday 18 October

The event will include exhibitor booths, presentations, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions, offering a comprehensive overview of life and work in South Australia and practical advice on how to make the move.

Visitors will receive information packs, brochures and merchandise, and will be able to network with fellow UK professionals who have already made the move.

This landmark initiative reflects the South Australian Government’s commitment to building a stronger, more resilient workforce, and importantly, inviting skilled professionals from the UK to be part of our vibrant communities.
