SA sportstech company expands into Singapore

A leading South Australian sportstech company which has gone from a startup to a global leader in sporting software, has secured its first major deal in the ASEAN region.

MyVenue’s point-of-sale (POS) software will handle transactions at Singapore’s multi-venue sports and entertainment district, The Kallang, which since December 2022, welcomed 11 million visitors.

MyVenue’s cloud-based solution will operate more than 200 fixed and handheld POS devices, 30 kiosks, suite catering, pre-event ordering and inventory tracking across the multi-venue precinct, which includes Singapore’s national stadium.

Headquartered at innovation district, Lot Fourteen, MyVenue was founded in 2020 and has rapidly expanded across major venues in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.

“Powering POS across four connected venues needs fast, reliable and scalable technology, supported by real-time actionable information,” said Michael Tribble, MyVenue Chief Commercial Officer. “That’s what MyVenue is built to deliver. We’re excited to bring our experience from the biggest venues in the world to Asia, and to demonstrate MyVenue’s full capabilities when demand peaks on event day at The Kallang.”

The deal with Singapore comes as hundreds of top business and government officials from across Australia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region, converged on Adelaide this week for the Australia-ASEAN Business Forum.

The two-day event at Adelaide Convention Centre attracted national and international delegates, including major investors, businesses and senior government officials. It has become a flagship event for investment and commercial engagement between Australia and the ASEAN region.

“For two days in Adelaide, we have some very influential people in the same room discussing what Australia and ASEAN can actually do together,” said Francis Wong, Australia-ASEAN Business Forum Chairman. “This Forum gives them direct access to people who understand these markets and, importantly, to the decision-makers who can help turn ideas into action.

“ASEAN is one of the world’s most dynamic economic regions and sits right on Australia’s doorstep. The opportunities are enormous, but Australia needs to move faster and engage more deeply.”

The Forum has become a flagship event for investment and commercial engagement between Australia and the ASEAN region, with last year's event generating around $40 million in commitments within the agribusiness and property sectors.

This year’s event brought together major businesses from across the region including Surbana Jurong out of Singapore, Vietnamobile and Becamex from Vietnam, Amora from Thailand and regional airlines.

ASEAN is a cooperative group of 10 Southeast Asian countries – Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, which together, represent more than 600 million people.

South Australia’s exports to Southeast Asia have reached $3.7 billion in the latest trade data available, with the region on track to become the world’s fourth largest economy by 2040 and is a priority growth market for the state, as outlined in the South Australia Trade and Investment Strategy to 2030.
