More good news for SA's startup ecosystem

South Australia's startup ecosystem continues to go from strength to strength, with new results showing we have once again jumped in global rankings.

As at 1 June 2026, South Australia's Dealroom is now tracking data on 939 South Australian startups, representing a 25 per cent increase in the last three years.

This increase was reflected in Dealroom's Global Tech Ecosystem Index 2026, which highlights that Adelaide has jumped seven positions since 2025 in the Global Champions Ranking.

The most transparent and definitive international ranking of tech and startup ecosystems across 325 cities and 77 countries, the Global Tech Ecosystem Index is based on investments, talent, innovation and outcomes.

Meanwhile, StartupBlink's 2026 Global Startup Ecosystem Index Report now ranks Adelaide sixth in Oceania, and #202 overall, climbing 15 spots in the rankings.

The report - known as the world's most comprehensive startup ecosystem ranking of more than 1,500 cities and 120 countries - also showed that South Australia's startup ecosystem grew 37.8 per cent in 2026, the second highest in the nation.

These results follow South Australia's impressive performance in the 2025 National Startup Muster Survey, released earlier this year, which revealed our state's support for startups is ranked highest in the nation.

The survey also called out Lot Fourteen innovation district as one of the precincts almost half of our startups identified as being part of, while South Australia's _SOUTHSTART festival was voted as the most recommended annual conference for startups and scaleups.

These endorsements reflect South Australia's growing startup ecosystem and our efforts in connecting local founders with the tools, knowledge and resources to accelerate their businesses.
