Investing in more energy efficient businesses

Through Round Two of the South Australian Government’s Economic Recovery Fund (ERF), $20 million is available to support small businesses to become more energy efficient operators.

Facilitated by the Department’s Office for Small and Family Business, matched Small Business Energy Efficiency Grants of between $2500 - $50,000 are available to support eligible small businesses and not-for-profits to:

    • invest in energy-efficient equipment and upgrades
    • adopt more energy efficient practices
    • provide environmentally friendly products and services
    • avoid and reduce waste
    • adopt new technologies and processes.

Business investment will be matched by the South Australian Government on a 1:1 basis, meaning that successful applicants will be able to complete their energy improvement projects for half the usual cost (after reimbursement).

It’s expected that this support will not only benefit small businesses in the short-term but produce considerable electricity bill savings over time.

Importantly, funded projects should also equip recipients to become greener operators – more attractive to environmentally-conscious consumers and ready to participate in the Net Zero economy.

The ERF is a $154.2 million South Australian Government fund established to assist business and industry to grow secure, well-paid jobs, improve productivity, deliver efficiencies, increase exports, and support innovative, value-adding technologies in South Australia.

Round Two applications close 29 November 2024 unless funding is exhausted prior.
