Armed with in demand skills, hands-on experience and invaluable connections, the first Defence Industry Connection Program (DICP) graduates are now ready to kick-start their career in the South Australian defence industry.

Funded by the Government of South Australia and delivered by Australian Industry Group, DICP supports university students into defence industry careers by offering paid industry placements.

Through DICP, these graduates have gained skills, experience, and invaluable connections to transition from study to employment in South Australia’s defence sector, with some already securing employment with their host organisations.

The graduation event also afforded the opportunity to hear directly from interns on their experiences of the program, illustrating the direct positive impact of the government’s investment into workforce development initiatives.

Host organisations also praised the program for providing opportunities to explore emerging technologies and access new talent to sustain a growing workforce needed for the future.

By taking a strategic, coordinated approach across all education and career stages, the Australian and South Australian governments are developing the state’s defence industry workforce to support the delivery of complex defence projects and continue to raise the state’s defence capabilities.
