Growth of the Australian Cyber Industry the focus during Australian Cyber Week 2022

AustCyber’s SA Node and Stone and Chalk held a series of local events in recognition of Australian Cyber Week – culminating in the local launch of the Sector Competitiveness Plan (SCP) 2022 on Thursday 17 November.

Developed with more than 60 Australian cyber security companies and experts, the fourth SCP represents a critical piece of research that will help inform appropriate government and industry support for the fast-growing cyber security sector in the years to come.

    According to the SCP:

    • The cyber security industry will contribute an estimated $2.4 billion to Australia’s GDP in 2022, representing an 11 per cent increase in Gross Value Added over the past two years.
    • The sector provides employment opportunities for 47,000 Australians, and many more skilled workers are required – with a 3,000 person gap between projected number of people employed and expected demand by 2026.
