    $55 million boost to South Australian industry

    The South Australian Government handed down the 2023-24 State Budget on Thursday, 15 June, with more than $55 million attributed to accelerating the development, productivity, and sustainability of key South Australian industries.

    These Budget measures will enable the Department for Industry, Innovation and Science to strengthen leading-edge research, support start-up and early stage business, as well as help industry to adopt important critical technologies.

    In addition, they will assist in increasing the information and support provided to small businesses, grow our local screen industry, develop workforce strategies, and grow the international higher education sector back to pre-pandemic levels.

    Key Budget highlights include:

    • Additional $6.5 million investment and support for small and family business to enable capability, capacity, and sustainability programs to be designed and delivered under the SA Small Business Strategy.
    • A $25.4 million investment in South Australia’s six NCRIS facilities and the further leveraging of co-investment from the Australian Government and local universities and research institutes.
    • A $5 million per annum investment in the Research and Innovation Fund to enable a continued focus on world class research, increasing the number of high-growth innovative businesses, and upskilling our innovation workforce for future jobs.
    • Additional support for the Adelaide Film Festival and an investment that will help StudyAdelaide raise the status of South Australia as a destination of choice to attract high quality international students.
