    SA Assistance Program for ARC Centres of Excellence

    Expressions of interest are now open.

    Apply for support from the South Australian Assistance Program for Australian Research Council (ARC) Centres of Excellence (CoE) for CoE commencing in 2026.

    South Australian Government funding is available to strengthen local applications to the Australian Research Council Centres of Excellence (ARC CoE) Program, and to support the operations of a subsequent SA-based Centre of Excellence, should this bid be successful.

    Funding is conditional on the success of an ARC CoE bid in the program’s 2026 round.

    Funding available

    The South Australian ARC CoE Assistance Program may invest in a CoE:

    • up to $600,000 over the lifespan of the CoE for a CoE headquartered in South Australia.
    • up to $300,000 over the lifespan of the CoE for a CoE with a node in South Australia. If the ARC CoE establishes more than one node in SA, funding will be limited to one node.

    The program is funded through the Research and Innovation Fund.

    Expressions of interest

    Expressions of interest are now open until 30 August 2024.

    Funding from DSD will be conditional on:

    • an award of funding from the Commonwealth Government for the ARC CoE scheme commencing in 2026;
    • key elements of the final, successful CoE remaining consistent with the information provided in the original SA EOI Application and SA Full Application; and
    • any other conditions related to the CoE’s partnerships with the South Australian Government.

    Successful applications will receive a letter of in-principle non-binding support that may be included in the Commonwealth ARC EOI and, if shortlisted following the Commonwealth ARC EOI round, will then be invited to submit a full application to the South Australian Assistance Program (SA Full Application) which will determine DSD’s conditional commitment for funding.
