SA handcrafted yoghurt for sale in Thailand

Handcrafted yoghurt made in South Australia will now be for sale across Bangkok following an increase in demand.

South Australian company, The Yoghurt Shop, which first started out on a market stall in Central Market, will have its products stocked in a range of 24/7 supermarkets following a 300% increase in sales year on year in the Thai market.

The company uses traditional yoghurt-making methods, slow fermentation and double hand-straining to create their signature thick and creamy texture.

“The relationship with Foodland in Thailand has expanded significantly over the past 12 months and has now become one of our most important retail growth stories within Southeast Asia,” said Brandon Reynolds, The Yoghurt Shop Chief Operating Officer.

“We originally started with a small trial of only a few displays in a small number of stores, however due to very strong consumer response and sales performance, Foodland is now substantially expanding our range of opportunity across their broader Bangkok network.

“Across the start of 2026, we have seen exceptionally strong year-on-year sales growth in Thailand which reflects the increasing demand for premium Australian dairy products within the region.”

South Australia’s exports to Southeast Asia are almost on par with the state’s largest trading partner, China, having reached $3.7 billion in the latest trade figures.

The Yoghurt Shop is one of 10 companies showcasing products at Asia’s largest food and beverage trade show, THAIFEX, supported by Food SA in partnership with the South Australian Government.

Home to more than 700 million people, Southeast Asia is set to become the world’s fourth largest economy by 2040 and has been identified by the South Australian Government as a priority growth market in the South Australia Trade and Investment Strategy to 2030, released last year.
