A new trade and investment expert has been appointed to the South Australian Government’s Malaysian overseas office, based in Kuala Lumpur.
Ms Nadzirah Mohd Ali is working closely with the Department of State Development and other in-market representatives across Singapore and Southeast Asia, to support trade missions, export initiatives and to promote South Australia as an investment destination for Malaysian businesses.
Malaysia is South Australia’s third largest export market, valued at $1 billion and is an influential trade hub within the Southeast Asia region.
Based out of the Austrade office in Kuala Lumpur, Ms Ali was previously the Inward Investment Lead at the United Kingdom’s Department for Business and Trade – at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. She played a key role in promoting commercial opportunities and driving investment into the UK.
Prior to this she was responsible for development the UK Department for Business and Trade Infrastructure’s trade strategy for Malaysia to support and increase exports and investment into the Malaysian market.

Malaysia is a major importer of South Australian metals, food and wine. It is also an important trading hub for global supply chains, particularly in manufacturing, electronics and digital industries.
Ms Ali will be supported in the Southeast Asia market by the department’s South Australia Regional Director (Trade & Investment Southeast Asia) Ms Natalya Twohill and Special Envoy to Singapore and Southeast Asia for Trade and Investment, Mr Martin Haese.
