New industry partners confirmed for technical colleges

With South Australia continuing to experience skills shortages, the South Australian Government committed to establishing five new technical colleges to support students to transition from in-school to in-demand.

With Findon Technical College now open and the remaining four taking enrolments for 2026, industry partners are now lining up to support key career pathways.

The technical colleges’ design, facilities and training programs have been developed in close consultation with industry and employers to replicate the look, feel and flow of industry workplace environments.

A key element of the technical colleges is guaranteed career opportunities for graduates, with employer partners signing on to design and deliver industry training programs to ensure students graduate with the right skills and qualifications, and train on the right workplace learning equipment.

The Tonsley Technical College will focus on advanced manufacturing and engineering for careers in defence, automotive, energy to work with electric vehicles and renewables, and building and construction.

A collaboration between the South Australian Government and Flinders University’s Factory of the Future, Tonsley Technical College recently welcomed three new employer partners, which join existing partners – the Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC), the Master Builders Association and the Motor Trades Association.

Additionally, defence primes BAE Systems Australia and ASC recently signed on as employment partners for the Heights Technical College, which will focus on advanced manufacturing and engineering, aeroskills, building and construction, and early childhood education.
