A punk and hard rock festival, Adelaide Hills music and food program and a summer foreshore music party are among new events supported by the South Australian Government's $10 million live music support package.
More than $3 million of the See it LIVE package has already started flowing to musicians, pubs, clubs and bars state-wide for events, venue upgrades and performances.
Five $50,000 Music Festival/Major Event grants will support new events featuring local and international artists, including:
- Juicy Juicy Green Grass (by Beer & BBQ Pty Ltd): combining live music with sustainability and diversity, to be held at the Adelaide University in 2023.
- Vintage Vibes (by Arts & Entertainment South Australia): a live music program featuring international and home-grown artists alongside local food and wine, to be held at Tomich Wines in 2023.
- Stonecutters (by Five Four Entertainment): a hard rock and punk music festival in mid-2023.
- Myponga Music Festival (by VRS Event Productions): an anniversary celebration of the Myponga Pop Festival first held in 1971 to be held in 2023.
- Fats’ Beach Party (by Fat Controller Club): a summer 2023 music festival hosted on the foreshore at Glenelg featuring international, Australian and local talent.
More than 220 $400 e-vouchers - totalling almost $90,000 - are going to venues to fund performances to take place from now until 31 October.
Venues receiving e-vouchers include Ancient World and Rhino Room in the city, Mount Gambier Bowls Club, Three Brothers Arms Hotel at Macclesfield, Red Poles Winery in McLaren Vale and Lobethal Bierhaus. A second round of $400 e-vouchers will open tomorrow, 22 August, for activity until 31 October, 2022.
The $5,000 Venue Improvement Grants are closed, with 200 grants – totalling $1 million approved. These grants will be used to upgrade venues to cater for live music performances. Recipients include: Enigma Bar and Fat Controller in the city, the Streaky Bay Hotel, the Barn at Wombat Flat, and the Eyre Hotel at Whyalla.
The Medium and Large Music Event grants are closed, with 100 $5,000 Medium Event grants and 25 $20,000 Large Event grants – totalling $1 million – approved and flowing to event organisers for music events to be held across the state.
