    Developing our regional workforce

Employers in the Limestone Coast, Murraylands and Riverland, and Eyre Peninsula regions are set to benefit from more than half a million dollars in South Australian Government funding, supporting the delivery of workforce projects that identify and address local job vacancies and skills gaps.

A total of $525,000 will be split evenly across the regions’ respective Regional Development Australian (RDA) organisations to fund a refreshed Regional Workforce Connector and Collaboration Program.

While all South Australian regions are currently facing workforce challenges amidst a global talent crunch – including metropolitan Adelaide – the regions were selected for their significant business populations and alignment with state-wide economic objectives:

    • Limestone Coast – matching the region’s existing strengths in manufacturing, forestry and agronomy with the skilled workers required for industry growth.
    • Eyre Peninsula (and neighbouring regions) – meeting the workforce requirements of new opportunities in the Eyre Peninsula and Upper Spencer Gulf, such as the emerging hydrogen sector.
    • Murraylands and Riverland – supporting businesses to recover from the impacts of the River Murray flood, including help with employee re-attraction and re-employment after a period of significant lay-offs.

Funding for the Regional Workforce Connector and Collaboration Program will support a range of workforce bolstering activities, including the statewide promotion of regional employment opportunities, delivering workforce planning training to local businesses, and facilitating StudyAdelaide student tours – so that graduates may consider working in our regions upon finishing their studies.
