The South Australian Science Council provides high level, independent advice to the South Australian Government and Chief Scientist on science policy issues that align with the State’s key strategies.
It also oversees the implementation of the State Government’s action plan for science Investing in Science.
Through strategies that build the State’s research capabilities and translation, as well as a skilled STEM workforce, the Council will help ensure that science and technology underpins the transformation of the State’s economy to high value-add enterprises, as well as maximising social and environmental benefits.
The membership of the Council is recommended by the Chief Scientist (and approved by the Minister for Science and Information Economy) based on their ability to provide expert advice to the Chief Scientist.
