Who is on the judging panel?

The judging panel consists of independent representatives from the science community, industry, corporate and education sectors. There is a broad representation across the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Specialist judges will be appointed for some categories. Once selected, the names of the judging panel will be available on this website.

Will I be required to attend an interview?

The judging panel reserves the right to interview all shortlisted nominees; however it is most likely that only nominees for the Scientist of the Year category will be interviewed.

Can previous winners nominate again?

Yes. Nominations for previous winners will be accepted if the nomination is for a different category. This means that past winners are not eligible to apply for the same category for which they have previously received an award. Finalist from previous years are also eligible to reapply in the same or different categories.

How do I write a successful nomination?

The content of the written nomination is very important for proceeding to the next stage of the judging process. Nominees in all categories must provide information about themselves, their research activity and their interactions with others including end users and industry.

Nominations should cover all selection criteria as these are equally important.

Keep your writing clear and simple, and as non-technical as possible. Some of the judging panel are not scientists, so may not understand the terminology in your field of endeavor.

Please stick within the word limits of each criterion. Incomplete nominations will not be considered.

Check your eligibility, this will be checked and your nominations disregarded if you are not eligible.
