Almond Grove Free Range Poultry expands
A South Australian poultry producer will transform its business by expanding from seasonal to year-round production with the help of a State Government grant.
Almond Grove Free Range Poultry is a family-run business based in Murray Bridge. Owners John and Deb Holland currently specialise in the supply of free range turkeys for the Christmas market, but the grant of $19,400 from the Business Transformation Voucher program will help them increase production to meet year-round demand.
John said the State Government grant would allow the production increase to take place while maintaining the quality on which the business prides itself.
“The Business Transformation Voucher will be used to review our production and processing capacity for turkey breasts.”
“We will also look at processed products developed in partnership with specialised butchers, such as smoked turkey breast, roll turkey mince, chorizo, bacon and pepperoni,” said John.
“The voucher will help us to purchase items including feeders, a vacuum packer and processing equipment to increase the efficiency of our business and grow the volume of fresh free range turkey products we can provide direct to our customers throughout the year.”
The Business Transformation Voucher Program is a $4.5 million fund that also provides independent business advice. It helps local manufacturers to invest in projects that will transform their businesses, increase productivity and competitiveness and improve long term growth prospects.
John said “Increasing our production will mean we can supply to new markets and grow our business in conjunction with the specialised butchers who are producing our value-add products.”
